Douglas Kennedy, né le 1er janvier 1955 à New York, est un écrivain américain qui décrit de manière très acerbe certains aspects des États-Unis d'Amérique. Il dénonce notamment leur puritanisme religieux.


Douglas Kennedy grandit dans le quartier aisé de l’Upper West Side, fils d'un père courtier The Popular Encyclopedia of Bible Prophecy: Over 140 Topics from the World's Foremost Prophecy Experts en bourse et d'une mère assistante de production à la chaine de télévision NBC. Il étudie à la Collegiate School (le plus vieux lycée de New York) et au Bowdoin College dans l’État du Maine, avant de partir un an au Trinity College de Dublin en 1974.
